Kelly Haines Has Been Awarded an $8,000 Collegiate Scholarship From FAYM!

Kelly Haines

Kelly Haines graduated from the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy in the spring of 2015 and is now pursuing a music performance degree from George Sakakeeny in one of the nation’s most respected bassoon studios at the Oberlin Conservatory in Ohio, attending, in part, due to a generous scholarship from the Foundation to Assist Young Musicians (FAYM).

A native of Henderson, Nevada, where she started playing bassoon at Bob Miller Middle School, later attending the Las Vegas Academy of Performing Arts, Kelly has numerous awards and honors to her credit. Kelly was awarded the Emerson Scholarship to attend the Interlochen Arts Camp in the summer of 2014 and received Honorable Mention from the YoungArts Foundation in 2015 (one of only 3 bassoonists in the country receiving recognition).

She was selected as principal bassoonist for the Nevada All State Orchestra in both her freshman and sophomore years in high school and performed as a soloist with the Henderson Civic Symphony as a winner of their Young Artists Concerto Competition in the spring of 2013.
